THE VILLAGE STAND, MIAMI SHORES CULINARY MARKET

CELEBRATES THEIR TWO YEAR ANNIVERSARY

WITH A WINE AND CHOCOLATE TASTING.

5:30PM – 9:00PM

MIAMI, FL (Aug 14, 2013) – The Village Stand has been satisfying the taste buds of nearby residents for nearly two years.  The self-proclaimed “nifty food shop in Miami Shores” has successfully built a reputation as a cozy neighborhood jaunt where foodies can scope out the latest and greatest natural and organic culinary finds from local purveyors, as well as exclusive gourmet bites from across the map.

Opened in August 2011 by endearing husband and wife team Alison Duran and Jorge Espinosa, the couple’s goal was to cultivate a nostalgic “mom and pop” market storefront reminiscent of past decades where shop owners forged lasting relationships with their customers.  Their vision was to create a memorable grocery shopping experience for every individual by sharing their passion and knowledge of food.  As a result, The Village Stand has ignited frenzy in the Miami Shore’s downtown retail district and become a destination for food lover’s to learn about new local brands and unique edible delights unavailable at most local markets. Their vast assortments of cheeses, pastas, fine chocolates, granola, jams, seasonings, cured meats and more have left their loyalists eagerly anticipating new vendors making their way through the door.

The proud owners of The Village Stand are always busily on the prowl for new items to display on their shelves.  Although their out-of-state culinary travels have led them to some tasty brands, their quest primarily begins at farmers markets where they purchase and sample local goods. “There are so many local unknown artisans who make exceptional products, so we’ve made it our focus to put them in the spotlight and promote their delectable offerings,” says Alison and Jorge. Although their selections do include some guilty pleasures, The Village Stand has taken a strong stand since day one to ensure their products are clean and free of harsh chemicals found in mass produced food.

The Village Stand has an extensive blend of Miami based vendors including Crackerman Crackers, a German cracker company specializing in sprouted whole wheat crackers; Laurie’s Pantry, an organic granola brand; Copperpots, a jam company offering seasonal jams; Shawnees Green Thumb Popcorn featuring organic popcorn flavored with kale and beet powder; as well as Rock Cat Ice Cream all-natural ice cream.  The Village Stand’s inventory ranges from affordably priced to higher priced gourmet items, however their belief is that even though better is usually more expensive, a person should still be able to find affordable treats that are healthy and delicious.

No matter how big or small a request, the masterminds behind The Village Stand are constantly cooking up new and exciting ways to enhance culinary experiences.  Whether it’s creating customized gift baskets for your loved ones or colleagues or assisting with event catering for your special occasion, the sky is the limit. As a way to let loose and connect on a more personal level with clientele, The Village Stand also hosts monthly open house events on the third Friday of each month where guests can savor new products while sipping on fine wine.  More events are scheduled to follow soon, so stay tuned.
